Painting Parties are a fun way to spend an evening or day out. We provide everything, the materials, step by step instructions as well as all of the setting up and cleaning afterwards, all you have to do is show up, paint with us, and take home your masterpiece!
Painting Parties are held in carefully selected bars around Auckland that serve a wide range of food and drinks as well as have the perfect atmosphere to get your creative juices flowing. See each event page for the specific location and address.
If you've never held a brush since school or dabbled in painting before then this will be right up your alley. The only prerequisite is a willingness to have a great time.
The majority of attendees haven't painted since school and that hasn't stopped them producing stellar results. Give it a go and you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Aim to get there at least 20 minutes before the event starts so you can grab a drink and settle in your seat. If you're in a large group, arrive a bit earlier to get seats together.
You'll be painting on a large 12x16inch (30x40cm) stretched canvas. It's self-framed and ready to hang so you wont have any costly framing expenses afterwards. If a painting is more complicated it may be on a smaller canvas so we can finish on time, if this is the case the event will specify the change in canvas size.

Please tie or pin your hair back if it's longer than a few inches as errant strands of hair can fall in the painting and also gets in the way of a few of the techniques (Flower and Negative Space). As this is a particularly messy art form please wear cloths you don't mind getting paint on (although it is washable).
Acrylic pouring is an ideal art form for those with no artistic or creative talent as results are abstract and not always predictable. Give it a go and you will be pleasantly surprised.

We provide everything you need for the painting, including the canvas, paints, brushes, palette knives, palette, washing up equipment and more. We recommend you just bring along a blanket.
We don't guarantee you wont! But we do provide art smocks. Oil paint is a little harder to get off clothing than acrylics (at Paint Night) so wear something you don't mind getting some paint on or you can just be very careful when painting.
As we're at the park we will be painting on the ground with no easel (it's just nicer that way!). Blankets to sit on are provided or you can bring a chair or cushion to sit on or a standing easel if you would like.

For painting events, you'll need to provide table, chairs and music.
For life drawing events that are hosted at your location, please provide music to suit your groups taste that will get the group in a great mood. Please also have the song "Pony - Ginuwine" ready to play for when the model enters the room - it makes for a hilarious start.
